Steve Tollefson has been with Hostetter Law Group since February 2013, when he came on as a part-time filing clerk. Within the year he took on the firm’s bookkeeping, and shortly after that he moved into the legal work itself. More than twelve years later, he serves as Senior Legal Assistant — a title that covers a wide range of responsibilities.

On any given day, Steve is drafting and revising pleadings, investigating facts, and working through the legal issues that underpin the firm’s cases. He also keeps the firm’s books. That combination of legal and financial fluency makes him a quiet anchor in the background of nearly every case the firm handles. What Hostetter Law Group’s clients see is a firm that is prepared and organized; what makes that possible, in large part, is Steve.

Steve came to Wallowa County in 2010, drawn by the pull of family and a desire for a different kind of life. He arrived from a career managing shops in the automotive industry — a background that gave him a sharp eye for systems, logistics, and the kind of detail work that keeps an operation running. Outside of the office, he reads, cooks, and values time with friends and family. He will tell you that what he loves most about living here is the people — at work and everywhere else.
